ABOUT MUSEUM

Bozüyük has been hosting a rich history since the ancient periods. "Unchanging junction point of history" Bozüyük, became the main transit route and accommodation point of the armies during the Ottoman period. Bozüyük, which maintain its importance in the modern Turkish Republic, is the land where the regular army established by the Grand National Assembly during the National Struggle period won the first victory in the Battles of nönü.

At the entrance of Bozüyük's stanbul direction, the historical building on the left side of a hill is a pavilion built by Atatürk's fellow soldier Colonel brahim Çolak as a residence for his family. It is one of the first civil architectural structures built in Bozüyük in the Early Republican Period in 1930 after the declaration of the Republic. This historical building, which Hungarian and Bulgarian craftsmen worked in its construction, exhibits the most characteristic features of that period in Bozüyük.

The pavilion was donated by the Colonel brahim Çolak's son Erturul Çolak to the Bozüyük Municipality with a donation of 33 acres in 2002. The building, which was abandoned to its loneliness after Çolak family moved to Istanbul in 1960, has been in ruins for many years.

Between 2013 and 2014, Colonel brahim Çolak Pavilion restoration and landscaping works were established by Bozüyük Municipality. The historical pavilion will shed light on art history, especially in terms of interior wall decorations. Restoration work has been done to protect it. The historic building, which was restored respecting its original structure, has been able to carry its architectural values to the future in this respect.

For this reason, the preservation of the historical and cultural accumulation of Bozüyük and the transfer to future generations began in 2015 with the establishment of the "City Museum and Archives". Within the scope of museum installation studies, 15.000 km with 44 villages and district centers were visited and 750 interviews were held at 40 different points outside the provincial borders to obtain information and documentary. Moreover, during the installation process, oral history work was conducted with Bozüyük citizens and a video archive of approximately 1000 minutes was created. Thanks to this information, museum work has been facilitated.

Our museum has a different character and a distinctive history in terms of its unique location, its characteristic architectural style of its period and assemblage of all the works by donation.  Bozüyük City Museum and Archives; narrates the historical role of Bozüyük from the archaeological history of Bozüyük to the Seljuk period, the historical development of the Ottoman period and from the period of the National Struggle to the present day.
